aHEAD of the Game

A player can usually base their success on how far they get in a tournament. And the larger the tournament and deeper into the draw they get, the more success that can be celebrated after grinding away for two weeks. So how would a brand measure their success? Seems like success could be measured with how many players the brand has using their product in the final rounds of each tournament. With that being said and with the quarterfinals and the semifinals set at the Sony Open in Miami this week, let’s take a gander at what racquets the players still in the draw are using.

HEAD currently has six out of the eight men that are in the quarterfinals of the Sony Open using their racquets (and in case you haven’t heard, Djokovic lost yesterday, so he isn’t in that count).  This bunch of HEAD players includes Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych, Richard Gasquet, Marin Cilic, Gilles Simon and Tommy Haas.

On the women’s side, already into the semifinals is HEAD Youtek Graphene Instinct MP user Maria Sharapova and Roberta Vinci is currently playing her quarterfinal match this evening with her HEAD Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0.

In a time where we are seeing major technology updates to the game, HEAD seems to have hit a home run with this round of racquets. Not to mention, all of these players have very different games and playing styles, yet HEAD seems to have a fit for each of them. Even just by comparing Sharapova to Vinci – the tall, lanky, big ball striker compared to the gritty, short, speedy, backboard with great court sense and skills at the net, and HEAD has found frames to answer both of their game’s needs.

On the men’s side we are seeing a variety of players find success with HEAD racquets. From the crafty players to the big hitters, men on the younger side all the way to veterans on tour. Big servers and counterpunchers are finding their solution in HEAD’s hands. The crafty Andy Murray is using the HEAD Youtek IG Radical Pro to see continued success on the court while big striking and powerful serving Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic are both using the HEAD Graphene Instinct MP. Veteran Tommy Haas used his HEAD Youtek IG Prestige Mid to defeat Novak Djokovic and earn himself a spot in the quarterfinals tonight against fellow Prestige Midplus user Gilles Simon. Rounding out the HEAD users is Richard Gasquet who will use his HEAD Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 to try and earn his spot into the semis.

It’s safe to say the HEAD racquets are dominating their competition in Miami. Which makes me only that much more excited to get on the court and see which of these racquets might be the game changer for my game!

Play with heart,

Michelle
