An early surprise for 2013…the Wilson Rush Pro

An early surprise for me to the 2013 playtesting season has been the new shoe from Wilson, the Rush Pro. I didn’t know what to expect from this “tech-y” looking shoe, especially since Wilson hasn’t really been on my  radar for footwear recently. However, as soon as I slipped these shoes on they started to win me over.

Right out of the box I noticed the incredible cushioning all around my foot. The fit is snug and glove-like, but it’s not too suffocating because there is enough mesh in the upper to provide adequate breathability. The shoe fit my foot nicely and naturally, with a low-to-the-ground feel.

Taking them to the courts, I was just as impressed with performance. The upper is beefed up with Wilson’s 3D-F.s technology to provide loads of support and stability in the forefoot, and the full length foam insole coupled with the Ortholite foam sockliner offers tons of padding for harsh landings on the hard court. It has a low-profile feel when moving around, enabling me to feel light and fast.

The new Rush Pro is all about cushioning and support in a lightweight, low-to-the-ground package. I always comment after hitting in them that it’s like “playing with your feet in a pillow”, but this pillow is tough enough to withstand a beating and still provide support.

WRPMS-2Stay tuned for our full-length review (written and video) coming shortly. Wilson might not be currently on your footwear radar, but give this a shoe a try and I’m sure they will impress you just like they impressed me.

Thanks for reading!
