It seems that while everyone else was in yellow at this year’s Australian Open, Fila’s women athletes looked cool and collected in a beautiful shade of blue that was paired with black and white. Let’s take a deserved closer look at Fila’s Spring Center Court Collection for 2013.
Newly signed to Fila, Julia Goerges looked outstanding in the Center Court Racer Tank. She made it to the fourth round in singles play before falling to Li Na, who finished as runner-up. The tank is an athletic cut, but what I like most is the taping on the sides, which creates a slimming effect. As an added bonus, Fila has upgraded its fabric with this collection, and each piece has a silkier feel in the hand. Another bonus: The built-in bra in this top is more supportive than most of the shelf bras we see in tennis tanks.
We also saw Jelena Jankovic wearing Fila designs on court. At least I am used to seeing her always wearing a dress, so it was great to see her try some separates. The Center Court Cami Tank looked great with her Australian Open tan. She paired the tank top with the Center Court Skort. Another upgrade Fila has made this year is to the built-in short for the skorts. Fila is calling it the Forza short, which I’m told in Italian means power. What it means to us women, though, is that there fabric is thicker with a tighter fit to keep the tennis ball secure against the leg.
As always, Fila makes a silhouette for every taste and body shape. For more coverage on the shoulders and back, there is the Cap Sleeve Top or the Center Court Sleeveless Top. The Center Court Dress has a modestly cut racer back that’s sporty but not too revealing.
There are some warm-up pieces as well to round out the collection. Check it out for yourself — or your team — at Tennis Warehouse.
