Last week we had a look at some of the hottest shoe deals on the men’s side, so today let’s take a look at what deals are to be had for the ladies! I wanted to keep the price down and under $100 and then rank these based on overall performance, value, durability guarantee and cosmetics. Here are our top 5 current deals on tennis shoes to make sure your dollar goes far!
Unless you’re a Nike faithful, you might not know that Nike launches new apparel collections at the start of each quarter. Today the summer 2014 collections roll out, and on May 1, we’ll get a few more pieces when we’ll see what Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and the rest of the Nike athlete crew will wear for this year’s French Open.
Prints are in for men when it comes to shorts this season. Notable pros to step out in printed shorts at the start of this season include Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro. Here are my top five printed men’s tennis shorts.
Plaid shorts have been around the courts for ages. Everyone has done them, Nike, adidas, Fila, the list goes on. But no one has done it better than newcomer to the tennis scene Travis Mathew. Looking at the Curtis Short from a distance, you’d think this is a casual cotton short. Up close, you realize that this is a performance stretch woven short.
I don’t know about you, but I love me some America. That’s right, I said it. People who know me know that if there’s one thing I love…… it’s fried chicken. But that’s followed very closely by America. And if I could eat fried chicken while being in America? Well, that’s just the gift that keeps on giving. I also love the Olympics. It’s not too often you can watch grown men and women slide across ice while frantically moving a broom in front of a large stone on prime time TV. Riveting.
Every two years, when the Olympics come around, I turn my patriotism up a notch. On a scale of 1-10, I’m a bald eagle with McDonald’s in one claw and a Coke in the other. Point is, I love the Olympics! And I love cheering on Team USA! Back in 2008, I made it out to Beijing, China to root on the United States in person. How cool is that right?! I know.
Love has a special meaning for tennis players. We love our game, and all the puns (intended or not!) that come with being a tennis player and fan. Valentine’s Day is upon us so let’s celebrate our love of all things tennis with a few fun tees.
If you are anything like me or my tennis friends, your life is busy and you are usually juggling your outfits with your daily activities — from the gym, to work, to the court, to running errands, etc.! So we wanted to help you out and grabbed 10 super cute pieces from Nike and made several different outfits perfect for all areas of your day — from sporty to sassy to strong looks — we’ve got you covered!
Like the professional athletes of our sport, today’s tennis players don’t just play tennis anymore to get their exercise in — you can find them in the gym, running, hiking, taking barre classes, kickboxing, cross-fitting, etc. Which is why this blog is a shout out to those dynamic ladies out there who find themselves on the court, off the court, in the gym and every where in between on a daily basis. These are the looks the active, athletic tennis ladies live in.
This time of year Hollywood has its Golden Globes and red carpet. We tennis fans have our first Slam of the year and its blue courts. I know which of those I prefer to watch!
We of self-proclaimed tennis fashionista status chose a few of the outstanding outfits from the 2014 Australian Open. Without further ado, here are some of our favorites (in no particular order) …
The much anticipated launch of the Nike Lunar Ballistec is here! As a brand new shoe offering from Nike, this shoe combines the durability and support of a Nike Air Max Courtballistec (available for men) with the comfort and light weight of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tour. The shoe will have some professional backing and will be worn on court by Victoria Azarenka.
Michelle and Brittany were lucky enough to get to playtest this shoe for a couple weeks, and they both unanimously agreed this is one of their favorite shoes to play in. Some of the standout features included comfort, durability (and a six-month guarantee!), weight and cosmetics. Here is some of their feedback:
Brittany on Comfort: “This shoe has some of the best comfort I have ever experienced. The cushioning was perfect throughout the shoe. It was very plush feeling especially under the heel.”
Michelle on Durability: “The typical balding under my big toe isn’t happening yet; yes, the sole has smoothed, but nothing that looks like the sole will become too slippery to move confidently in. These are holding up really well, which is great since I’m loving these shoes!”
Brittany on Weight: “It is one of the lightest shoes I have ever playtested (even lighter than the Vapor 9 Tour). While it feels light and quick on the court, it definitely does not feel flimsy. Nike did a great job of combining light weight, support and durability. ”
Michelle on Cosmetics: “Honestly, the fact that I was able to playtest the flouro pink colorway adds to my love of this shoe. So I love the color – every time I wore these I got comments about how bright and fun they look!”
The two playtesters agreed that there was one small negative, the shoe wasn’t as ventilated as they would have liked. Although, neither found that to be an issue as they continue to wear the shoes both on and off court.
Please visit the Tennis Warehouse website for more information as well as a full written review.
We tennis players are a good lookin’ bunch! Our sport of choice would certainly win the “best dressed” award when put up against the competition. Our Tennis Warehouse playtesters have picked their favorite racquets, shoes, and strings of 2013, and now we’re looking at clothing. So without further ado, here are our favorite apparel pieces and brands for the year.
In late 2013, we introduced a new men’s brand called Travis Mathew. It outfitted James Blake in the latter years of his career. After retiring, Andy Roddick also signed on as an ambassador as well as an investor. It’s all about great style and feel for this Southern California-based brand. Count Jason and our own Andy Gerst as fans.
Jason: “I’m a classy guy and this is a classy brand. ‘Nuff said.” (Editor’s note: Plus he’s the biggest James Blake fan of all time!)
Andy: “It looks awesome, and it feels even better than it looks! The apparel pieces have a ‘classed-up California surfer vibe’ going on, which, growing up in a Southern California beach town, really appeals to me. This stuff looks great on and off the court!”
Being that tennis has consumed a good 95% of my life, you can assume that means my family and friends eat, sleep and breathe almost as much tennis as I do on a daily basis (and I certainly make sure they get their daily dose of tennis). Even the members of my family that don’t play tennis anymore still love the clothes and accessories that tennis players adorn from the hoodies to headbands to tops and capris, etc. And don’t even get me started on the obsession from my brother-in-law-to-be with the sour candy from Sugarpova.
With that being said, although I am slacking slightly this year in my gift buying, there’s a good chance most of my presents will be bought where? Where else but the Warehouse! So while I can’t disclose too much on the specifics of my shopping cart because I know I have snoopers in my family…I can offer some pretty awesome stocking stuffers (I’m talking some seriously fun swag for under $20!) for you guys to contemplate for the tennis lovers in your life!
