I’ve always been a little bit of a short-lover when it comes to tennis. So you won’t be surprised when I say I’m loving compression shorts, either worn by themselves as no nonsense training shorts or as a color contrast under a skirt or another pair of shorts. Nothing like a flash of color when least expected! Even though most players wear skorts that come with compression shorts attached, there are skirts or dresses that need something under them and I’m enjoying how creative we can be these days. I hope you caught some of Sharapova’s bright little touch in Roland Garros this past week. Love it.
Because some of you have legs that NEED showing off, and the weather is inviting, I’ve put together a couple of the cool compression shorts/spandex that we have available right now.
It you want crazy, I got crazy. Tiff already blogged about these awesome compression shorts. Initially I wasn’t a fan but these have grown on me! My favorite is the Funkadelic Women’s Fiesty Cat Compression Short. Mix it up for a flash of color, or wear them brave and bold. [Measurements — Inseam: 2.5″, Rise: Mid]
Pro is where it’s at with the Nike Women’s Summer Pro Short. A true compression short, it features the a Nike Pro elastic waistband, flat comfort seams and heat transfer Swoosh. This comes in two colors, the green combo and Magenta with Tropical Twist. These look great as compression under a bright pair of shorts – I got this idea off Karly who rocks the magenta colorway under her shorts, and they look awesome! [Measurements — Inseam: 3″, Rise: Mid]
My favorite thing about the Athletic DNA Women’s Spring Graphic Short is the addition of fun and color. It features a patterned elastic waistband and screen printed Athletic DNA logo on left leg. It comes in four colors that are displayed with the colored waistband. [Measurements — Inseam: 2.5″, Rise: Low]
For another little twist I have the Asics Women’s Spring Reversible Compression Short. The fun part about it is that it’s reversible, so you have a choice of two prints depending on your mood. It features an elastic waistband, two print sides and heat transfer logos. [Measurements — Inseam: 4″, Rise: Mid]
The perfect little short is the Tonic Women’s Spring Shortie. It has an elastic waistband, flat seams for comfort and an embroidered Tonic logo on the left hem. I love the material on this one — comfy and soft, but well fitting. It comes in five colors so there are plenty of options, which I love. [Measurements — Inseam: 3″, Rise: Low]
Hope you find something to suit your personality. Enjoy the color and show off your legs!
It’s Wednesday again, so it’s a great time to check in to see what’s just arriving. Ladies, it’s time to get your shop on. In the past week, we’ve put up several new women’s apparel collections. Here’s a quick peek at what’s new in women’s fashion apparel.
If spring was about neons, summer is about the cool, soothing pastels. Pure Lime is on target with its latest collection. Lemon Drop is a great name for this group because it describes the color so well. The soft yellow is reminiscent of sugar coated lemon drops. This group has a little something for everyone from the more shoulder baring Ribbon Tank, Corset Tank and Halter Neck Dress to the full coverage Classic Tank and V-Neck Cap-Sleeve.
Love yellow? You’re in luck. Tail also has a citrus inspired collection called Limoncello. (That might be a great excuse for a post match cocktail featuring the namesake libation!) The yellow in this group is much more vibrant and is a great match for the sporty designs of the collection. For a walk on the wilder side, check out the Limoncello Brilliance Skirt with its Tiger Print. Tail is also great for its sizing range. Some of the pieces (the Brilliance Skirt and Limoncello Esteem Tank) are available in sizes from extra small to extra extra large.
Keeping in line with the soft hues, we have the Filagree collection. The pastel green reminds me of lime sherbet and adds some freshness to the always reliable black and white pieces. Eliza Audley is known for stylish, well crafted pieces that carry an understated elegance. A lot of the pieces have design lines that you might see at a cocktail party. Take a look at the Curls and Swirls Dress. It looks like a dress you might find at a boutique or department store, but it’s crafted in a performance fabric for the court.
We’re hitting all the citrus flavors with these summer collections. Lija’s Glow collection pops with an orange sherbet color. The fabrics and cuts of Lija are second to none. The Glow Group highlights mostly the Fuse fabric. This is a textured, lightweight mesh that offers moisture management and drapes wonderfully. Coal grey and white are the complementary colors in the group for a seasonal, yet sophisticated color palette.
Tennis fashion has its roots in conservative colors and designs. Funkadelic is bringing funky to tennis. If you’ve just picked up a skirt or dress and need some flair to along with it, look no further. Funkadelic has you covered. We’ve just brought in this line of compression shorts, and they’re all about the flash. Literally. Just check out the Bling It On Compression Short. Like cat prints? Got it. Check out the Cheetah-Licious and Fiesty Cat prints. Prefer the safari theme? Go for Jammin’ Giraffe or Zebra Safari. Funkadelic is a reminder that fashion is fun!
