The legend continues! You can get your hands on the anticipated adidas Barricade 8+ next week. This latest shoe brings a seamless Kurim upper to the Barricade shoe line. With this new material, adidas aims to improve durability while preserving the breathability and flexibility of its predecessor.
The remainder of the Barricade 8+ remains. There is the Band of Power to lock down your heel, while the signature Stability Claws take care of your forefoot support. There’s also still a six-month outsole durability guarantee for the adiwear 6 outsole.
Check out the features of the shoe:
For the launch of the shoe, there are four colors: Solar Green, Collegiate navy, White/Black and Grey/Silver. Check for them June 27 at Tennis Warehouse!
If you are a longtime tennis player, like myself, when you hear the word “barricade” you instantly think of a very stable adidas tennis shoe…or is that just me?! Launching in the year 2000, adidas has created a legacy in the Barricade line of shoes for being one of the top tennis shoes for aggressive tennis players of all ages.
My first run in with the Barricade line takes me back to my college tennis days. Back in 2001, our team was sponsored by adidas, and our shoe of choice (along with several other teams across the country) was the Barricade. The ideal shoe for a college team, our Barricades held up great with the 20-hour practice weeks and tournaments and matches every weekend — not to mention they were easy to move in, yet provided the ultimate support and stability.
Caroline Wozniacki is going into the US Open this year in top form. She clinched her first round match against Ying-Ying Duan 6-2, 7-5 and next up for Caroline is Chanelle Scheepers. Let’s take a look at what Caroline’s gear is for the US Open this year.

Her look: Caroline is looking sharp in hues of blue in her adidas Stella McCartney Fall Ink Dress. Her Stella Barricade 8s (in navy) match perfectly — these durable, stylish shoes are quick on the court and provide great traction combined with stability. They received high marks in our playtest and we love the look of these! She tops off her look with an adidas visor to help shield the NY sun.
Her equipment: Controversy has swirled around Caroline’s current racquet of choice as she is playing with a blacked out frame at the moment — if you take a closer look, I think you can figure out what 16×19 frame she has decided to use as her weapon of choice this year at the Open. Her blacked out frame is accessorized with Yonex Super Grap over grip in white and pink Yonex dampeners. Since she is not with a current racquet sponsor, she is sure to be seen toting around all of her gear in the Stella McCartney Bag.
Hope you are enjoying all of the tennis and if you want a closer look at any of the player’s gear — be sure to let us know!
Play with heart,
