US Open 2013 Gear Check: David Ferrer

The Spanish grinder, David Ferrer, is making his presence known at the US hard court major this year. Despite losing a tough battle against Richard Gasquet, let’s take a look at what he’s been wearing and using this year at the US Open.

His apparel: It wasn’t that long ago that Lotto apparel was reserved for those on European soil, but now US customers can rejoice if they want to get their hands on some of the Italian brand’s clothes and the Fall line is really getting noticed this year with the bright hues and pops of colors. Ferrer is wearing the Fall Matrix Tech Crew that is a light weight two-piece crew with raglan sleeves for an increased range of motion. For the guys who prefer a collar, the Matrix Polo has the same design lines but keeps it more classic with a self-fabric collar. He pairs his crew with the Fall Matrix Short which features a built-in brief and mesh-lined pockets with colorblocking on the sides. To combat the hot and humid weather this year, Ferrer has a Lotto headband and wristbands. When it comes to footwear, this quick moving Spaniard is wearing the Lotto Raptor Ultra IV Speeds in the Navy/Orange color. These shoes are favorites amongst our playtesters because of high level of performance they offer when it comes to cushioning, stability and traction. With a 6 month outsole warranty, these shoes are ready to be put to the test!

His equipment: David Ferrer uses the Prince EX03 Tour 100 (16×18) to help him battle out the long points on the court. This racquet has a lively response and offers lots of access to spin from all areas of the court as well as a rock solid feel at the net. He strings it up with Luxilon Big Banger Original 16 which continues to help when it comes to spin and control — a perfect combination for Ferrer’s game. His over grip of choice is the always absorbent and comfortable Tourna Grip.

Play with heart,

Michelle
