Standing at 5’11″, I find it a constant struggle to find tennis and workout apparel that is long enough to practice and train in but also comfortable, stylish and functional. This week, I went in search at Tennis Warehouse for the best top options that we carry that are fashionable, comfortable and suited for the taller ladies.
I’ve been finding myself turning to tees to practice and work out in. Both Under Armour and tasc have great tee options. The Under Armour Women’s Spring Charged Scoop Neck Top and the tasc Women’s Fall Streets V-Neck Top were similar lengths being longer than average, and both are comfortable to sweat in. Both feature flattering shapes and breathable materials. The tasc option is great for practicing outside under the sun because this super soft tee is made out of a material that is SPF resistant and protects you from the sun. The bold colors of both of these shirts and the moisture wicking material make them ideal to practice in.
For match clothes, I like to look my best and be sure to be sporting some of the newer trends on the court. (To quote Deion Sanders, “If you look good, you feel good. And if you feel good, you play good.”) Here are my top three tanks that will make you shine on the court.
3. Asics Women’s Straight Sets Tank in Print because of the bold colors and design. The length is longer than that of comparable Nike tops, and it features a flattering fit that makes this top seem a bit longer than it is. I love the cut and the back of this top, making it perfect for any sun-loving player.
2. adidas Women’s Powerluxe Houndstooth Tank, coming in three different bright, bold colors, this tank offers breathability, length and style. The mesh fabric at the top of this tank was a definite plus along with the comfortable fit. I was never worried about it lifting up while serving.
1. My absolute favorite top (and I think quite possibly my new favorite brand) was the Tonic Women’s Holiday Aster Tank. Falling in love with this tank initially on TW, seeing it in person and trying it on sealed the deal! This tank was the longest option out of everything that I tried. With the drawcords on the sides of the tank you are able to customize the length and cinch the top up based on your preferences. The built-in bra is supportive without being too tight. The design is fun, yet subtle. And the material is thick but breathes well. I have yet to see anyone sporting this top on the courts, making it unique and even more appealing to me! (And check out the matching capris!)
Lastly, for extra credit, the Athletic DNA Fall Graphic Tank caught my eye while browsing on TW. I love racerback tanks but often find them to be too short to wear on the court. This one is perfect! This tank fits into all of my categories – perfect to wear in practice, pair with a skirt for a match or even to throw on after playing. There are a handful color options, and the graphics will definitely be a conversation starter!
Hope these help my long-legged tennis friends out there! If you have any good finds that I missed, please feel free to share them with me!
Play with heart,
