At the BNP Paribas Open yesterday, we experienced some cooler weather for the desert. With the temperature staying in the 60s with a crisp breeze (sometimes more hurricane-like), spectators and players a like were a little chilly. So how did the (female) player cope? By wearing capris!
Players like Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirilenko took to the court sporting capris under their outfits for some extra warmth. Sharapova went for an understated cool grey colorway capri underneath her mint green Nike Spring Premier Maria Dress for her night match against Schiavone (also wearing white capris). And just before her, Kirilenko wore a vibrant yellow capri under her adidas Stella McCartney Spring Skort to win her match against Christina McHale.
Here at Tennis Warehouse we have a wide selection of capris to fit everyone’s liking. Here are a couple of my favorites.
1) tasc Basic Lilehammer Capri Tight- This capri is made from super soft bamboo materical and features UPF 50+ protection. And every female needs a black capri, they are so versatile that you can wear them by themselves, under skorts/dresses, and even under a pair of sweatpants for an extra layer.
2) EleVen Fall Garden Legging- These capris have a fun floral pattern of pink and grey. The player that wears these loves to make a fashion statement on and off the court. Pair it with a basic black outfit to add a little flair.
3) Tonic Holiday Avelan Legging- The subtle tonal pattern on this capri adds style to anyone’s game. Here at the BNP Paribas Open, I have seen many players pull off a look similar to this in practice, during matches, and casually. Plus, Tonic’s materials are super soft and luxurious.
4) Nike Spring Pro Capri II- This is definitely the sportiest looking capri and available in several other colors. I love the rich looking grand purple color and contrast elastic waistband. I find this capri to work well under skorts as it doesn’t feel bulky because of it’s lightweight material.
